Check out these shiny Glassworks card from 2018 Gypsy Queen baseball card set (Trout, Betts, Bryant)

Sure, there are refractor cards, which look nice.

But the Gypsy Queen Glassworks subset are at another level and are very attractive looking cards with great artwork and background design.

The shine from the background adds to the overall appeal of the card.

Here are five currently listed on eBay that really impressed us. Click the provided link to see the eBay posting, which includes the cost. Some may be worth the $1,000+ for these cards!

Topps Living Set a unique idea, but will it last?

The Topps Living Set is a unique idea and an interesting way to collect cards.

As explained on the Topps website, this trading card set “starts with Card #1, but does not have a final card. It’s not tied to any specific season or era, but lives on year after year.”

It’s also billed as the “first cross-generational product that can be collected and traded for years to come.”

Some have already gravitated towards collecting this set since Week 1 when the first of three cards were released (Aaron Judge, Joe Panik, Nicholas Castellanos). A new set of three cards featuring three different players (past and present) has been released each subsequent week.

The look of the cards are also unique in that the artwork is created by renowned sports artist Mayumi Seto.

The most valuable card currently seems to be Nick Markakis whose card has the lowest print run.

This PSA 10 Graded card is currently listed for $2,000.

Screen Shot 2018-07-13 at 10.23.16 AM.png

Of course, the Aaron Judge cards also have good value currently with a PSA Graded 10 going for $120.

Screen Shot 2018-07-13 at 10.25.51 AM.png

The big question is how long will this set really keep going? If interest wanes in this set, will Topps be committed to keep it going? Will the same artist be responsible for creating new cards or will it be necessary to bring someone else on?

Does the fact that the set may never be completed diminish its value at all?

For now, those are questions with no answers but collectors who are into the Living Set can look forward to another three cards next week.

(If you’re a fan of Gleyber Torres, here’s an investment lot of 400 of his Topps Living cards, ungraded, listed for $10,000!)

Can Lebron James autograph rookie card go even higher by winning for LA Lakers?

The news of Lebron James leaving his hometown team a second time to head for the Los Angeles Lakers might have come as a surprise.

But it should be good news for basketball card collectors who invested in Lebron James’ autograph rookie cards.

Playing for a historic team like the Lakers would give any superstar some added value. And if James can win another title for the Lakers, that would further cement his Hall of Fame status as well as add to the value of his cards.

So the question is how much would it continue to increase?

A list below of his autograph, graded rookie cards shows that the values are pretty high already. Take a closer look by clicking on the links below to see how much each of these amazing cards is listed for!

Here are some of the “most watched” BGS graded autographed baseball cards on eBay

Sometimes it’s just fun to window shop when you know you can’t afford to buy that particular item you covet.

For baseball card collectors who buy most of their cards on eBay, that’s essentially what the “Add to Watch List” button is for.

Doing a quick check of BGS Graded autographed baseball cards on eBay, here are six baseball cards with at least 100 watchers – none of which are really that surprising to see on this list.

You can click on any of the links below to see the actual posting on eBay for a closer view of the baseball card (or to buy if you had deep pockets and take it off this list!)

Why are autographed sports cards graded for authenticity valued less?

The value of autographed sports cards with the signatures certified by the card manufacturers themselves give the card itself an incredible boost.

It’s especially true of cards belonging to superstar players and top prospects.

And once they’re graded, the value of those cards can skyrocket even further. For those chasing Shohei Ohtani’s 2018 Bowman Chrome rookie autographs, just click on the link here to see what those values are for an assortment of those cards.

But how do you value exactly those sports cards that have autographs signed the old fashioned (or traditional) way?

There are a couple of the Ohtani baseball cards that didn’t come with an autograph, which were signed by Ohtani himself later on. Both have been graded by PSA and authenticated the autograph like the one here.

Screen Shot 2018-05-30 at 10.22.54 AM.png

The value of the card, however, is significantly lower.

Our question: why is that? Is there still the uncertainty that the autograph could have been forged? Is it the fact that there are potentially many more base cards, which can all be theoretically signed thus devaluing the autographed card?

Or is it just a good opportunity to get a signed, graded card of your favorite player at much better value?

Would you prefer a Mike Trout Bowman Chrome blue refractor gem mint or base with pristine grading?

We asked a similar question previously about two Mike Trout Bowman Chrome autograph rookie cards whether one would prefer a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5 graded card.

Screen Shot 2017-09-05 at 7.05.16 PM.pngThe answers varied from collector to collector, mostly coming down to personal preference.

Here’s another question: Would you prefer a Mike Trout Bowman Chrome blue refractor gem mint or base with pristine grading?

The blue refractor is obviously more limited (numbered to 150) and has a great BGS grade of 9.5/10. It’s currently listed on eBay for nearly $21,000 (Click on link to see eBay listing).

But the base autograph while not numbered has a pristine rating 10/10 and it’s listed at $20,000 (Click link to see eBay listing).

Bryce Harper vs Aaron Judge: Whose card would you rather have?

It’s amazing what Aaron Judge is doing right now with the New York Yankees well on his way of capturing the American League rookie of the year honors.

Already hailed by some as the heir to Derek Jeter, Judge is hitting his way into the hearts of Yankee fans with his explosive start to the 2017 season.

Halfway into June, he’s already hit 22 homeruns with 58 runs and 49 RBIs while batting a .335 average.

Unsurprisingly, his 2013 Bowman Chrome Draft base autographed rookie (BGS Graded 9.5/10) has skyrocketed in value over the past two months going from $99 to $1,399.

harperjudge

But is he better than Washington Nationals superstar player Bryce Harper who is also having a sensational season this year?

Like Judge who struck out a ton last season, there was similar concerns whether Harper can put up a season that many scouts and analysts felt he was capable of playing.

Rubber match goes to the Golden State Warriors (will lack of parity in NBA impact card values?)

With the Golden State Warriors just clinching another NBA championship title, one has to wonder if the perceived lack of parity will impact card values of basketball players?

Screen Shot 2017-06-12 at 10.02.30 PMI mean, the superstars will always have value like Lebron James and Stephen Curry.

But how about everyone else?

With NBA organizations that are capable of building so-called super teams, there will undoubtedly be a limited number of teams that have a real chance to reach the NBA Finals, let alone win it all.

The fall of Pittsburgh Pirates Andrew McCutchen

There’s plenty of optimism for Pittsburgh Pirates’ fans who have young talented players in their system like Adam Frazier, Austin Meadows, Gregory Polanco, and Josh Bell.

Screen Shot 2017-05-26 at 11.39.57 AM.pngBut it’s unfortunate that veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen these days isn’t contributing to the ball club as he consistently did in past years.

Batting a meagre .203 after almost two months of game action, it’s not the production Pirates fans expected from McCutchen. His .256 average in 2016 was a disappointment in itself.

The steady decline over the past couple seasons has certainly impacted his rookie card value.

Should the hobby show more love to defensive superstars (like Kevin Pillar)?

The guys who mash get all the love.

But how about the defensive superstars like Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar?

Check out this amazing catch from last night’s game robbing Jose Ramirez of a sure triple.

For any Jays fan, they already know this almost seems routine for Pillar, aka Superman (see the YouTube vid below this article for a compilation of more of his incredible catches).
