To accompany the earlier release of the 2018 Topps Heritage throwback baseball card set, the High Number set has more rookie call ups as well as established players on new teams.

But it’s the autograph cards, some numbered to 69 in red ink, that we really like including of course arguably the most talked about player this season – Shohei Ohtani.

Ronald Acuna and his top 3 rookie cards

When Ronald Acuna was called up to “The Show” in 2018, the rookie phenom came as advertised displaying both power and speed.

And Acuna should be part of an exciting young core that should help the Atlanta Braves contend in the post-season.

While his top prospect pedigree has increased the value of his autograph rookie cards, it still has the potential to go higher if Acuna is able to reach his full potential.

Here are the three rookie cards we like best.

1. Ronald Acuna 2017 Bowman Chrome Rookie Auto Autograph RC Braves BGS 9.5 Gem Mint

His 2017 Bowman Chrome autograph rookie card should be on any prospect collector’s list.

And there are a number of colored refractor cards available for those looking for more limited numbered sets.

Plus this rookie card features Acuna in his Braves uniform and the on-card autograph adds to the card’s value.

Value: $750 (BGS 9.5/10) for base autograph card as of August 2018.

2. RONALD ACUNA 2017 TOPPS HERITAGE RC REAL ONE AUTOGRAPH SP AUTO BGS 9.5 GEM 10

For collectors who can’t afford the premium value of Bowman Chrome rookie cards, the Topps Heritage autograph rookie cards are a very nice consolation.

While this card doesn’t feature Acuna in his Major League uniform, it does have him in a nice profile shot wearinig his Florida Fire Frogs uniform.

The autograph is also on-card, which is a nice touch.

Value: $329 (BGS 9.5/10) for base autograph card as of Aug. 2018.

3. 2017 Bowman’s Best Ronald Acuna Best of 2017 RC Auto BGS 9.5 10

Acuna’s 2017 Bowman’s Best autograph rookie card is another nice addition for rookie and prospect collectors.

This one has a photograph of Acuna batting and the autograph is on-card as well.

A graded card is also more affordable than the aforementioned Topps Heritage and Bowman Chrome rookie cards.

Value: $250 (BGS 9.5/10) for base autograph card as of Aug. 2018.

A cool story about Mike Trout, Derek Jeter to go with a cool autographed baseball card

So the story goes that Mike Trout once asked for an autograph from Derek Jeter – while standing on second base during a game against each other, according to the article on the Cut4 webpage.

It’s a cooler story knowing that Trout’s baseball idol was Jeter growing up. And like most people would be around their childhood idol, Trout recalls being super nervous when he asked The Captain.

The story ends well, which you can read about from the link above, with Trout receiving what he asked for.

Coincidentally, one collector was able to get a Topps Heritage baseball card signed by both Trout and Jeter, and authenticated. See the card below and click the link to see how much it’s going for.

Ohtani homers in 3 straight home games, card value trends upward

That’s three consecutive home games in which Shohei Ohtani has homered in.

Most predicted he would be far more valuable as a pitcher, which has proven to be true so far.

But what Ohtani’s done with the bat has also been equally impressive.

In other words, he’s come as advertised to date.

Rollercoaster of a ride on Shohei Ohtani rookie card value

The hype on Los Angeles Angels Japanese pitching sensation Shohei Ohtani certainly boosted his value before he even played a regular season MLB game.

His not so common ability to both pitch and bat well also intrigued fans and collectors alike.

But his poor Spring Training stats put a damper on his initial rookie card value seeing wild fluctuations in what they were going for on eBay.

Not that the regular season has started with Ohtani pitching well, it looks like collectors are willing to pay a pretty penny for his autographed rookie card again.

Here’s one that’s up for auction, which will end within the next 24 hours. The bidding as of midnight Wednesday, April 4 was at just more than $1,000.

Shohei Ohtani electric on the mound, Topps Heritage autograph card value starting at $1,000

It’s the show that many fans wanted to see.

Shohei Ohtani, familiar to Japanese baseball fans, showcased what he could do on the mound during a Spring Training game – and he didn’t disappoint, striking out eight of the 12 batters he saw.

With the added hype of his hitting ability and being able to do both on his new team – the Los Angeles Angels – Ohtani’s autograph card value is continuing to trend upwards.

In particular, his 2018 Topps Heritage auto baseball card (most ungraded since the set was released very recently) is already commanding big bucks. Imagine how much it could potentially go for once these cards are graded!

More than 500 watchers on eBay for this 2018 Topps Heritage baseball card

The hype on Los Angeles Angels Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani is growing day by day as we get closer to Opening Day.

With Ohtani going to both pitch and bat on a more regular basis than we’ve ever seen any pitcher do in modern times, both baseball fans and collectors are seeing if Ohtani can live up to the high expectations.

But as usual, baseball cards of top prospects and rookies are inflated during Spring Training as everyone is optimistic about the player’s future performance.

The 2018 Topps Heritage baseball boxes were released this week and Ohtani’s red ink autographed card is already going for more than $3,000 – and there’s three days left until the bidding ends.

Topps Heritage autographed cards rising in popularity

For many baseball rookie autographed collectors, the Bowman Chrome Prospect brand will probably be the go-to cards to collect.

But as prospect collectors speculate which rookies might have the potential to make an impact in the Major Leagues, the value of some Bowman Chrome Prospect autographed rookie cards have increased tremendously.

Some refractor versions of elite prospects can be in the five-digit figures easily.

With the cost being prohibitive for regular hobbyists to invest in these cards, the Topps Heritage seem to be rising in popularity.

They are usually less costly and the on-card auto on top of great profile photos make the Topps Heritage cards very appealing.
